Travelling to Scilly

Whether you are travelling down to Scilly by train or car, the Isles of Scilly Travel or Penzance Helicopters will be the ones who take you on the final part of your journey to a holiday of rest and relaxation on St. Martins.

You can enjoy a quick flight on the Skybus from Land's End, Newquay or Exeter or on the helicopter from Penzance, taking in spectacular views of Cornwall and looking out for that first glimpse of paradise as you near the islands. There is a shuttle bus service between Penzance station and Land's End Airport and Penzance heliport which can be booked along with your flight.

If you prefer a more sedate journey, the Scillonian ferry will bring you safely to your destination in around two and a half hours. Enjoy the sea air on deck and keep an eye out for pods of dolphins who can often be seen playing around the boat.

When you arrive on Scilly you will find yourself on the main island of St. Marys where you will need to catch a smaller ferry to St Martins. There is a blue board on St. Mary's quay where you can find out the boat times for St Martins.

Car Parking

There is airport parking available for those of you wanting to fly and if you are travelling on the Scillonian there are several places in Penzance offering a secure place to keep your car so you can enjoy a stress free holiday.

Luggage

If you are travelling to Scilly on the Scillonian you will load your luggage into a container on Penzance quay. Please make sure that you have put a RED St Martin's label on each of your bags (these are available on the quay). Your luggage will be automatically transferred to the smaller lunchtime ferry to St Martin's. Please make sure you you travel at the same time as your bags as you will need to help unload your luggage.

If you are flying to Scilly, your bags will be loaded onto your flight and you must collect them from 'baggage claim' at St Mary's airport.

The boats between the islands are open-top boats and it's worth bearing in mind that the trip can sometimes be a little wet and windy! We would recommend using waterproof luggage or packing your things inside a plastic bag within your case. Hopefully your trip will be smooth and dry but make sure that you keep your waterproofs close to hand!
